ND Picnic in AZ
Almost every year, for over 50 years, thousands of North Dakotans have gathered in Mesa, AZ, for the North Dakota Picnic in early March. It’s a fun event for friends and former neighbors who enjoy Arizona sunshine but still call North Dakota “home”.
An estimated 3,000 people attended the 2024 ND Picnic, held on March 3rd. Hosted by the North Dakota Community Foundation, the event included entertainment, classic cars on display, and numerous vendor booths. The real draw, however, is finding old friends and former neighbors in the crowd.
The NDSCS Alumni Foundation will have a booth set up, and we would love to see you in sunny Mesa!

About DREAMS
DREAMS — Directing Resources to Educate And Mentor Students — first started in May of 1995. At that time, the proceeds were ear marked for the Allied Health Center fund drive, supporting the 2.2 million dollar Bute Gym project as well as operating support for the Foundation. Co-chairing the event, along with Director Woody Caspers, was Myron Koppang, VP of Business Affairs at the time, and Jim Sturdevant, Alumni Foundation board member. The first event was held at Prante's on The Green. While DREAMS has evolved and changed with time, the purpose for DREAMS has continued to support our mission.
