The community is invited to join North Dakota State College of Science as the College celebrates Homecoming during the week of October 7-12, 2019 in Wahpeton, N.D. The Wildcat Fangs 5K will be held Monday, October 7, with check-in at 4:30 p.m. and the race beginning at 5:30 p.m. Additional information and registration is available online at ndscsalumni.com/homecoming.
Homecoming coronation will take place on Wednesday, October 9 at 8 p.m. in the Bremer Bank Theatre in the Harry Stern and Ella Stern Cultural Center.
A bonfire for NDSCS students will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 9-11 p.m. in the Earl “Skip” Bute Alumni Stadium parking lot. This event will include outdoor music played by a disc jockey.
A variety of events will take place on Friday, October 11, including the Catbacker Luncheon at 11 a.m., followed by the Homecoming Pep Rally from 12-1 p.m., Culinary Arts food shows and campus tours.
Distinguished alumni and friends will be recognized as Homecoming Honorees during the Alumni and Friends Awards Recognition on Friday, October 11 at 7 p.m. at the Hektner Student Center. A social will precede the awards ceremony, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are available online at ndscsalumni.com. This year’s honorees are: Craig Caspers, Alumnus of the Year; the Joe and Louise Krebs Family, Family Tradition Award; Larissa Gilbertson, Wildcat of the Year; Wells Fargo, Friend of the College; Mary Kosel and Linda Patterson, Parade Grand Marshals; Rebecca Truesdell, Commitment to Excellence Award; Karen Bajumpaa, Commitment to Excellence Award; and Art and Linda Grochow, NDSCS Tradition Award.
On Saturday, October 12, the Homecoming Parade will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a Tailgate Party, free with game admission, inside the Earl “Skip” Bute Alumni Stadium.
Athletic events during Homecoming include Wildcat volleyball at home in the Clair T. Blikre Activities Center against Miles Community College at 7 p.m. on October 8 and against Dawson Community College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9. The Wildcat football team will face Minnesota West Community and Technical College at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 12 at the Earl “Skip” Bute Alumni Stadium.
Three individuals and one team will be inducted into the Letterwinners Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 12 in the Hektner Student Center. A social will begin at 6 p.m. with the recognition banquet to follow at 7 p.m. Reservations are available online at ndscsalumni.com. This year’s inductees are: Jennie Bucholz, Mark McElvaney, Shannon (Smith) Ziemer, and the 1994 Football Team.
